Step 1: Eligibility and Timelines
If your project aligns with one of the focus areas described in What We Fund, and you wish to apply for a Responsive Grant or Capacity Building Grant; your first step is to review the material on this page. Be sure your organization and project meet the eligibility requirements and that you can work within the grant cycle timelines.
Eligibility Requirements
Any applicant organization must:

Have 501(c)(3) or other nonprofit status.

Be located in the 15-counties we fund.

Be willing to avoid participating in, contributing to, or promoting activities contrary to Catholic Church Moral Teachings.

Follow MMF Outcomes and Indicators. Please see the MMF User's Guide for examples.

Support one of the Fund's focus areas of Immigrants & Refugees, Older Adults Living Independently, Human Trafficking Prevention, Rural Well-Being, or Advocacy & Coalition-Building (within one of four previous focus areas).

Minimum request amount is $5,000 and maximum request amount is $50,000.

A final status report for a previous grant must be received and approved before an application can be submitted for a new grant.
Timelines
Grant awards are available for a 12-month period.
Responsive & Capacity-Building Program Grant cycles are typically as follows:
- Fall Cycle
- Applications Open June 15
- Application due August 1 at 11:59pm
- Cycle runs November 1 through October 31
- Final Status Reports due by November 30 of following year
- Spring Cycle
- Applications Open December 15
- Application due February 1
- Cycle runs May 1 through April 30
- Final Status Reports due by May 31 of following year
COAR Grants are accepted on a rolling basis.
Improved Economic Mobility grants are invitation only.
