Grantee Spotlight: Women in Charge
Started in 2022, Women in Charge’s "Pathways to Integration: Community English Language Program" provides free, individualized ESL instruction to adult immigrants in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The program offers flexible small group or one-on-one sessions, delivered at the WIC office, local libraries, or online, and tailored to specific student priorities, whether it's navigating doctor's appointments, understanding children's school communications, or preparing for job interviews. The Covering House has been a Marillac Mission Fund grantee since 2014. They provide refuge and restoration, using the least restrictive environment for sexually exploited and trafficked children and teens, providing safety, dignity, and freedom, utilizing top-level staffing and oversight. More…

Remembering Pope Francis and Grateful for Pope Leo
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Pope Francis. As a ministry of the Catholic church, we mourn the loss of his leadership but take comfort in the knowledge of his eternal rest through the love and sacrifice of Jesus. With gratitude for the life and witness of Pope Francis, we pray now, “Go, good and faithful servant, to your eternal reward!” At the same time, we welcome Pope Leo to carry on Pope Francis' legacy of mercy, compassion, care for immigrants, and living out the Catholic Social Teachings that guide our work. Aging documentaries on PBS

PBS has several documentaries related to aging that may be of interest to Marillac Mission Fund grantees, some of which directly involved MMF grantee partners in the production. Aging in America: Survive or Thrive, narrated by Martin Sheen, celebrates the promise of increased longevity while addressing crucial and unprecedented public policy challenges. Going Your Way is a Nine PBS documentary that focuses on the personal, medical, and spiritual issues surrounding end-of-life care. My Mama Joe: Hope & Help tells the story of caring for an older adult with dementia. And Caregiving, produced by Bradley Cooper, tells the challenges and joys of paid and unpaid caregiving in America. More…
